Meet the Founder
Karen M. Conyers
Karen is married to McKeever A. Conyers, Sr., and they have two sons.Karen has a passion for helping bereaved parents after losing her youngest child and only daughter, McKaylan Elizabeth, on March 10, 2017. On June 8, 2020 at the height of COVID, Karen sat at her kitchen table and was led to start This Is Our Journey as a private Facebook page for bereaved parents. This Is Our Journey became a 501c3 nonprofit in September 2024. On October 17, 2022, Karen became a board certifed mental health coach through Light University. Karen has received the Best Supporter Award from Bully Magazine for her work in her child loss ministry.

This Is Our Journey Facebook Page
We have a private Facebook page entitled This Is Our Journey: Grieving Parents. This is a safe space where parents can post their victories, their struggles, or just to seek support in a safe, non-judgmental environment. There is also monthly prayer on Facebook Live.
Zoom Fellowships
We offer zoom fellowships for any parent of child loss. What is shared in our zoom fellowship stays in our zoom fellowships. This is a space where we may have organized sessions or free flow. Most importantly, in these sessions, you do not have to speak if you do not want to.
In-Person Fellowships
We offer in person fellowships for those parents who live in the local area or surrounding area or for anyone who wishes to attend. Our in person fellowships are more structured.
McKaylan's Butterfly
McKaylan's Butterfly is a free mental health coaching service offered to bereaved parents or for anyone who is in need of coaching. Coaching sessions are an hour long and can be in person or virtual zoom sessions, one person or group sessions. If you are interested in coaching, please book your appointment below.
